At the same time, experts point to the upcoming late summer, in which individual heat waves can rapidly reduce soil moisture. The responsible authorities are monitoring developments closely and adjust their assessments on a daily basis as needed.

Prevention and further developments

Michael Tiefgraber, an expert voice frequently cited in regional weather reporting, had recently pointed to the influence of frontal systems on the weather situation in the Alpine region and in northern Germany. This is associated with indirect effects on evaporation and the dry phases in the forests.

In addition to the immediate data situation, forestry measures also play a role.
