The world's largest electronics contract manufacturer, Foxconn, saw its revenue jump sharply in the second quarter thanks to rapidly growing demand for artificial intelligence (AI).
As the company announced on Sunday, revenue grew by nearly 40 percent year-on-year to approximately 2.5 trillion Taiwan dollars (just under 69 billion euros). This allowed Nvidia's key server builder and Apple's largest iPhone assembler to exceed analysts' estimates.
The group, officially known as Hon Hai Precision Industry, said it benefited primarily from two business segments. Strong AI demand had led to robust revenue growth in the cloud and networking products division. In addition, the company recorded significant growth in its smart consumer electronics division, which includes iPhones.
