Füchse Berlin overcame a fierce challenge from ThSV Eisenach to win a high-scoring Bundesliga catch-up game 41-38 on Thursday evening.
A Hot Evening in Eisenach
In front of 2,850 passionate fans at the Aßmann-Halle, the hosts, who had already secured their top-flight status for next season, started courageously and led 10-9 after 18 minutes.
The visitors then demonstrated their quality with a decisive 5-1 run to turn the match around and held a 17-14 advantage at the half-time whistle. Goalkeeper Dejan Milosavljev punctuated the first half by scoring into an empty net in the final second to establish the three-goal cushion.
Eisenach refused to be shaken off after the break. Despite falling behind 14-19 early in the second half, the team coached by Misha Kaufmann fought back relentlessly.
