GAK took over the lead in the Austrian 2. Liga for the first time this season on Friday evening through a 2:1 home win over newly promoted Austria Lustenau.

GAK celebrated an important home win on the eighth matchday of the 2. Liga and moved to the top of the table with the victory over newly promoted Austria Lustenau. For the Graz side, who were last active in the country's top flight, it is the first time at the top of the standings in the current season.

After a balanced opening phase, Donovan Pines put the home side in front. The center-back took advantage of a set piece and headed in to give GAK a 1:0 lead. The team coached by Alexander Hofleitner subsequently played in controlled fashion and left the visitors from Vorarlberg little room for their own attacking moves.
