German Actor Alexander Held Dies at 67

After training at the prestigious Otto-Falckenberg School, Held began his professional journey in 1980 at the Munich Kammerspiele. His talent extended beyond acting; from 1968 to 1970, he was a soloist with the Regensburger Domspatzen choir. As a youth, he also showcased his athletic prowess as a goalkeeper for the traditional Munich club TSV 1860, winning five youth championships with the team.

Personal Loss and Legacy

Held faced profound personal tragedy when his wife died at just 51 years old, nine years before his own passing. In 2014, he dedicated his Bavarian Television Award for Best Series Actor to her in a moving tribute.

Burgemeister, who collaborated with Held on more than 30 films, remembered him as a man of deep warmth and wit. "As a friend and producer, Alexander Held was a gift: a human being, a gentleman, a man of refinement, humor, and great kindness," Burgemeister said. "He will be incredibly missed. Alexander will forever be a hero to me."
