The German men's national football team won its home Nations League match against Serbia 2:0 on Thursday.
Match overview
The team coached by head coach Julian Nagelsmann celebrated a controlled and ultimately deserved home win against the visitors from Serbia. In front of their own crowd, the DFB side took the initiative early and controlled possession as well as the rhythm of the game over long stretches. The goals that made it a 2:0 final scoreline came after patiently executed attacks that repeatedly put the Serbian defense under pressure.
The German team created several clear chances in the first half, one of which was converted to take the lead. The Serbian side, which had been described in the days before the match as a compact and counter-attacking opponent, managed only few truly dangerous attempts against the disciplined German backline. With the half-time lead, Nagelsmann tweaked the tactical approach slightly and relied on keeping the ball through the wide areas.
