Ghanaian national football player Thomas Partey has been denied entry into Canada, meaning he will miss Ghana's first World Cup group game against Panama in Toronto.

As world football governing body FIFA confirmed to the German Press Agency upon request, Partey is unable to travel from Ghana's World Cup base in Boston, USA, to Canada due to visa issues. "The Athletic" first reported the incident. Ghana plays its World Cup opener in Toronto against Panama in the night from Wednesday to Thursday German time (1:00 a.m./MagentaTV). The match will also be broadcast live by ServusTV.
