A glider aircraft crashed early Thursday afternoon in the Breitenkopf area near Ehrwald, Tyrol, according to police.
A police spokesperson confirmed the crash to the APA news agency, corroborating earlier reports by the online editions of the Tiroler Tageszeitung and Kronen Zeitung.
The accident occurred in the mountainous terrain of Breitenkopf, a peak in the Mieming Range that rises to 2,469 meters. The area is popular with glider pilots due to favorable thermal conditions, but its rugged topography can pose challenges.

At the time of reporting, authorities had not released any information regarding possible injuries to the pilot or any passengers. It also remained unclear whether the glider had been flying solo or as part of a group.
