A three-year-old boy sustained life-threatening injuries when his scooter collided with a car pulling out of a garage in Vienna’s Brigittenau district shortly after noon on Saturday.

According to initial reports, the boy was riding his scooter on the sidewalk at around 12:30 p.m. when a vehicle emerged from a garage and struck him. Emergency services were called to Hartlgasse in Vienna-Brigittenau, and the child was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

No further details on the driver or the vehicle were immediately provided. The Vienna police are investigating the exact circumstances of the crash.

In a separate incident, the Vienna professional fire department deployed 17 emergency vehicles and 75 personnel to a residential fire on Schlachthausgasse in the Landstraße district during the early hours of Sunday.
