The Grand Hotel Sauerhof in Baden, closed for more than twelve years, is to reopen by 2028 with 111 rooms, a glass dome over the inner courtyard and an underground car park; the Meta Hesz Group 1 GmbH and the city are investing around €40 million to make it happen.

The project for the storied property is taking concrete shape. As Mayor Carmen Jeitler-Cincelli (ÖVP) confirmed on Monday, the planning application for the Grand Hotel Sauerhof was submitted to the Baden district administration on July 16 for approval. This means that, unlike earlier attempts, a traceable procedural stage has been reached: "Die Planung ist abgeschlossen, alle Unterlagen sind fertiggestellt." This quote comes from architect Markus Wolfesberger, who has become a co-owner of the building.
