The Austrian Green Party has sharply criticized the 2027/28 double budget, accusing the government that low-income earners and women are disproportionately burdened by the planned measures.

The Greens argue that the increase in unemployment insurance contributions for around 1.1 million employees with gross incomes up to 2,630 euros particularly affects the lower income groups. According to the Greens' calculations, the measure is expected to generate around 189 million euros in 2027 and grow to 465 million euros by 2031 through transitional periods. Approximately 70 percent of those affected are women, which the Greens attribute to higher part-time employment rates and the concentration in low-paid industries.
