Leverkusen, 30 June 2026
Spanish international footballer Alejandro Grimaldo is moving from Bayer Leverkusen to Atlético Madrid and has been given a contract with the Spanish top-flight club until 2030.
After three years at Bayer Leverkusen, Alejandro Grimaldo is leaving the Bundesliga side and joining Atlético Madrid. According to consistent media reports, the fee including bonus payments is around 25 million euros, while other sources speak of around 20 million euros. This makes the transfer of the 30-year-old the most expensive departure of an over-30 Bundesliga player since Niclas Füllkrug, who moved to West Ham for 27 million euros in summer 2024. Previously, Granit Xhaka had been the most valuable departure of a Leverkusen veteran with a 15 million euro move to Sunderland.
