On July 2, 2026, 205 police officers celebrated their swearing-in and commissioning respectively at Retz's main square, including 102 new patrol officers and 25 border police assistants.

For the first time in the long history of the Austrian police, a swearing-in ceremony took place on Thursday at Retz's main square in front of the town hall. A total of 205 officers were at the center of the festive ceremony, as announced by the Lower Austrian State Police Directorate. The Police Music of Lower Austria provided the musical accompaniment.

Of the more than 200 officers present, 102 police officers have successfully completed their training and are now taking up their regular patrol service. 49 of them will be deployed in the area of alien and border police. In addition, 78 experienced officers were able to celebrate the completion of their training for the middle management level and will in future take on important leadership functions as duty-leading police officers. They will assume leading positions at police inspectorates and are expected to take on increased responsibility in daily operations there.
