FPÖ politician Christian Hafenecker says he expects a Corona investigative committee to begin in spring and sees the final hearings in the already ongoing Pilnacek committee taking place in autumn.
Hafenecker, who is one of the FPÖ’s most prominent representatives on parliamentary investigative bodies, spoke at the weekend about the timing of the planned investigative committees. He expects the Corona investigative committee to hold its constituent meeting in spring 2027. The prerequisite is that the ongoing investigations and final hearings in the Pilnacek committee are completed by then.
Final phase of the Pilnacek committee in autumn
According to Hafenecker, the final phase of the Pilnacek investigative committee is scheduled for autumn. Senior ÖVP politicians are expected to be called as witnesses again, including Interior Minister Gerhard Karner and his predecessor Wolfgang Sobotka. Former Chancellor Karl Nehammer and his successor Christian Stocker are also expected to be summoned.
