Vienna, 23 October 2026
On Friday in Vienna, the FPÖ reaffirmed its willingness to continue the parliamentary review of the Covid-19 pandemic after the Pilnacek investigative committee had just been extended.
The Freedom Party has thus once again signalled its support for a parliamentary review of the pandemic. The trigger was the recent extension of the Pilnacek investigative committee, according to the available reports.
The political context points to the FPÖ’s repeatedly expressed commitment to addressing the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic in parliamentary committees as well. By reiterating its position following the committee’s extension, the party is maintaining this course.
What the FPÖ again pledges
Gerald Hauser highlighted the restrictions under which young people grew up during the pandemic. He said: „Jungen Menschen sei die Kindheit gestohlen worden.“ This statement illustrated the perspective from which the FPÖ assesses the consequences of the pandemic.
