Heilbronn, June 12, 2026

The Heilbronn Regional Court ruled in early June that a Lidl advertisement for a cream yogurt offering a 56 percent promotional discount on a crossed-out recommended retail price (RRP) of 89 cents is impermissible due to misleading content; the Consumer Center Baden-Württemberg had filed the lawsuit.

What was the case about?

At the center of the proceedings was a Lidl flyer in which the discounter advertised a cream yogurt with the word "Aktion" (promotion), a 56 percent reduction, and a crossed-out recommended retail price (RRP) of 89 cents. The Consumer Center Baden-Württemberg (VZBW) had sued over the advertising. The Heilbronn Regional Court has now upheld this lawsuit and declared the advertising impermissible, as reported by the "Lebensmittelzeitung," in which Gabriele Bernhardt of the Consumer Center explained the background.
