Erfurt, Germany — May 18, 2026

Citizens in Southwest Thuringia can now submit objections to a proposed regional plan that designates 40 priority areas for wind energy development across approximately 7,900 hectares.

Public Participation Phase Begins

The draft regional plan, published on May 18, 2026, initiates a public consultation period allowing residents, municipalities, and stakeholders to voice concerns until May 20. Authorities anticipate receiving thousands of objections during this phase.

A virtual information conference scheduled for 6 p.m. on May 18 aims to clarify the planning process. Nearly 100 questions have already been submitted in advance, according to local officials.
