The Higher Administrative Court for the State of North Rhine-Westphalia in Münster on Tuesday rejected rapper 18 Karat's application for urgent interim relief against his deportation to Portugal, thereby clearing the way for his immediate removal.
This confirms the ruling of the Gelsenkirchen Administrative Court: Portuguese national Ivo Vieira Silva, better known as 18 Karat, may be deported from Germany to Portugal. The 40-year-old has been serving a sentence of six years and three months since late 2022 at a correctional facility for several narcotics offenses. The Dortmund Regional Court had convicted him, among other things, of drug trafficking on a kilogram scale.
His lawyer, Lisa Grüter, said on request that her client had been put on a flight that same night. "Mein Mandant hat alles gemacht, um sich zu ändern," said Grüter. He had begun training as a painter and varnisher in custody, which he would have completed in two weeks. An outing had also been planned, but it was canceled at short notice and instead a transfer transport within the prison was carried out.
