The heads of the four Higher Regional Courts in Vienna, Graz, Linz and Innsbruck have called for swift relief measures and additional judge positions in view of an average workload of around 120 percent at the district and regional courts.

The presidents of the four Higher Regional Courts (OLG) – Katharina Lehmayer (Vienna), Michael Schwanda (Graz), Helmut Katzmayr (Linz) and Klaus-Dieter Gosch (Innsbruck) – pointed out on Monday in a joint press release the workload of the judiciary, which has been rising for years. According to this, utilization at the district and regional courts averages around 120 percent, without any additional judge positions being provided for in the current justice budget.
