Hoffenheim on the verge of record sale: Winger Touré set to move to Newcastle

Touré joined TSG Hoffenheim in early 2025 from Swedish club Hammarby IF for a fee of 10 million euros and showed his quality early on. He had joined from Sweden's Hammarby IF in February 2025 at the age of 18 – for a fee of around 9 million euros. In the completed 2025/26 Bundesliga season, the Ivorian contributed five goals and twelve assists in 30 top-flight appearances, racking up 17 scoring contributions (five goals and twelve assists). As early as the second half of the 2024/25 season, he worked his way into the regular starting lineup and provided his first assists.

Bazoumana Touré is considered one of the fastest strikers in the Bundesliga. His speed and his versatility on the left wing quickly made him a hope-bearer for TSG. In the past season, he played 30 games despite his participation in the Africa Cup of Nations – underlining his durability. The attacking player is also already tested on the international stage: Bazoumana Touré is a World Cup participant with Ivory Coast. At the World Cup, he was in the starting lineup for the victory against Ecuador, sat on the bench for the defeat against Germany and only made a brief late appearance in the round-of-16 exit against Norway.

Fast winger with World Cup experience

According to reports, the transfer is close to being completed. Late on Wednesday evening, Sky, among others, reported a total figure of up to 50 million euros that TSG had agreed with the Magpies. The fee for the Ivory Coast World Cup participant is said to be around 50 million euros. Touré is expected to undergo his medical at the English Premier League club shortly and receive a five-year contract. His contract with the North Baden Bundesliga club runs until 2029 but, according to dpa information, contains no release clause.

At Newcastle, the Ivorian would not be the only prominent new arrival. He would be a teammate of German national player Nick Woltemade at Newcastle. Newcastle most recently dug deep into its pockets for the 75-million-euro purchase of Stuttgart's Nick Woltemade. NUFC has spent more than 50 million euros on a player five times to date. According to its own figures, the club has a squad of 25 players, a total market value of €335.25 million and is coached by Eddie Howe.

Medical and five-year contract

On Hoffenheim's side, sporting director Andreas Schicker had indicated for some time that the attacker was a candidate for sale. TSG will therefore have to close a gap in the squad early – coach Christian Ilzer currently has 39 players in his squad. According to reports from TV broadcaster Sky and Kicker, Hoffenheim's flying winger Bazoumana Touré is set to move to Newcastle United. In England, The Athletic is also reporting an agreement.

Newcastle was not the only club said to be interested in Touré. Most recently, Sport Bild also reported that Borussia Dortmund had inquired about the player. In the end, the Premier League club apparently prevailed, which is said to have received more than 100 million euros from the North English. The transfer, which clearly exceeds the current market value of around 40 million euros (according to transfermarkt.de), would be further evidence of the growing financial firepower of England's top clubs.

Outbidding BVB – Newcastle prevails

For Hoffenheim, the deal means a sporting drain of talent, but also a financial release. The income could be reinvested in new players to fill the gap on the left wing and reshape the squad for the coming season. As things stand, the transfer of Bazoumana Touré to Newcastle United is the biggest sale in TSG's history to date.
