Following the discovery of a woman's body on a walking path along the Alster in the Hamburg district of Poppenbüttel, police are treating the case as a homicide and have taken a 22-year-old woman into provisional custody.

Strollers discovered the body on Saturday morning at around 8:49 a.m. on the Alster walking path in Poppenbüttel and alerted police. Emergency services were dispatched, secured the scene, and began investigations on site. A murder commission has been set up, as NDR.de reports, citing the Hamburg police.

According to initial findings, the deceased is a woman. Police initially provided no further information on the identity or the precise time of death. They also remained tight-lipped on Saturday about any potential murder weapon or the specific course of events.
