The energy price index of the Austrian Energy Agency fell by 3.1 percent in June compared to May, with household energy becoming cheaper and fuel prices noticeably easing.

Monthly decline in heating oil and fuels

According to the Austrian Energy Agency, the Energy Price Index (EPI) fell by 3.1 percent month-on-month. The decline was driven primarily by cheaper fuels and heating oil, while other energy sources such as gas rose slightly and district heating remained stable.

Heating oil showed the most pronounced monthly change: compared to May, heating oil became 11.6 percent cheaper. Diesel fuel cost 7.0 percent less, and the price of premium gasoline fell by 4.9 percent. This continued the easing observed at the pumps since spring into June.
