The Houthi militia from Yemen is claiming attacks with dozens of ballistic missiles and drones on targets in the Saudi capital Riyadh and on facilities of oil company Aramco in the port city of Yanbu on the Red Sea.
According to a Houthi spokesperson, the attacks were directed at "sensitive targets" in Riyadh and at Aramco facilities in Yanbu. The group published its statement through its own channels and described the operation as a response to ongoing tensions in the region. The claim of responsibility could not be independently verified.
Saudi authorities and state media reported incidents in the area of Riyadh airport. Images and reports circulated on social networks showed smoke development and emergency vehicles on the airport grounds. Officials initially spoke of investigations and later announced supplementary information.
