Environmental Risks from Leaky Workshop Floor

The condition of the workshop floor was at the center of the complaints. Numerous open spots could have allowed leaking oil and other operating fluids to seep unhindered into the ground, causing significant damage to soil and groundwater, according to the City of Vienna. According to the authorities' assessment, there was therefore significant damage to soil and groundwater.

"Es ist grob verantwortungslos, eine erhebliche Gefahr für unsere Umwelt in Kauf zu nehmen", said Hillerer. At the same time, he pointed out that the swift action of the departments involved may have prevented significant environmental damage.

Numerous charges will be filed against the responsible party. The relevant authorities are reviewing both environmental and commercial law violations. The Water Police also forwarded the case to the public prosecutor's office, which will examine whether criminal consequences follow. Further Action and Open Questions

The City of Vienna announced that it would closely monitor further developments at the site. Whether the location could be used again after remediation and clarification of the legal situation remained open as of Wednesday.
