India's education minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned on Saturday after weeks of youth-led protests demanding accountability for repeated examination paper leaks that have disrupted the careers of millions of students.
Pradhan announced his decision on social media, saying he had sent his resignation letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "Considering the situation that has arisen at Jantar Mantar (protest site) and across the country, so that antinational forces do not take advantage of this situation … I have sent my resignation letter to the Prime Minister," he wrote. In a separate post, he added: "I deeply respect the aspirations, feelings, and legitimate expectations of the country's youth."
