The Hague, July 2, 2026

As part of the international investigation complex "Project Medusa," 57 men have been arrested in several countries and 158 suspected victims have been rescued since April, Europol announced Thursday in The Hague.

Background of the Investigation Complex

The operation targets online networks suspected of incapacitating women with sedatives and painkillers in order to subsequently abuse them. Europol spoke of a total of 156 identified suspected victims and suspects.

According to Europol, the operation in June produced 274 new leads that are now being pursued. Investigators view the cases not as isolated incidents but as coordinated activity across national borders.
