Iraqi striker Aymen Hussein was detained and questioned for nearly seven hours by US border protection officers at Chicago's O'Hare Airport upon entry for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, before he was finally allowed to enter the country.
The vice-captain of the Iraqi national team arrived in the United States with his team on Saturday. At Chicago's O'Hare Airport, he was interrogated for nearly seven hours by officers of US Customs and Border Protection (CBP), according to his own account. His mobile phone was also searched during the questioning. He was ultimately granted entry, as reported by the Guardian newspaper and the Reuters news agency, among others.
