The Lower Austrian singer Jazz Gitti was awarded the Honorary Plaque of the State of Lower Austria on Tuesday.

The award was announced by State Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner in a press release issued by the state. Mikl-Leitner honored the artist, who turned 80 in May, as an „echtes Original“ of the domestic music landscape. The Honorary Plaque is one of the highest awards that the State of Lower Austria bestows upon individuals who have made outstanding contributions to cultural life.

An Award for a Lifetime of Work and Attitude

With the conferral, the state wishes to thank an artist who has remained true to herself throughout her life. Mikl-Leitner emphasized in the release: „Sie ist immer sie selbst geblieben - unverwechselbar, unangepasst und mit dem Herz am rechten Fleck.“ The State Governor highlighted that Jazz Gitti had never followed a trend and had always gone her own way. It is precisely this consistency that makes her an exceptional figure in the Austrian music business.
