In view of the 2027 French presidential election, Jordan Bardella, president of the Rassemblement National, is emerging as the potential successor to Emmanuel Macron, while his mentor Marine Le Pen risks being barred from running due to ongoing legal proceedings.

An heir raised in Le Pen's shadow

The year 2027 is approaching, and France is opening an unprecedented chapter in its political life: for the first time since 1981, a presidential election could take place without the name Le Pen on the ballot. Marine Le Pen, 57, could in fact be declared ineligible following the legal proceedings concerning her, as analyses published in recent months have reported. In this scenario, the party already has a plan ready: its heir, 30-year-old Jordan Bardella, current president of the Rassemblement National.
