The Jordanian Football Association (JFA) has parted ways with national coach Jamal Sellami following the group-stage exit at the FIFA World Cup, as association president Prince Ali bin Al Hussein announced on Sunday.
Background: Debut without a point
Under Sellami, Jordan made its World Cup debut in the United States, Mexico, and Canada, but failed to collect a single point. The team's opening match in Group J was lost 1:3 to Austria; the remaining fixtures also yielded no points, meaning the Jordanian association's World Cup dream ended after the group stage.
Sellami had only been installed as Jordan's national coach in June 2024. According to the association, the 55-year-old Moroccan also holds Jordanian citizenship. Despite his team's historic first World Cup appearance, his contract has now been terminated.
