Karlsruhe, 04 August 2026
Karlsruher SC begins the new 2. German Bundesliga season on Friday under head coach Maximilian Senft and, in his words, is pursuing a "klare Strategie" with the goal of establishing the club permanently among Germany's Top 20.
Senft had already been presented as KSC's new head coach during pre-season and now embarks on his first full campaign at the Baden-based second-division club with the start of the season. In an interview with APA, he described his approach as deliberately structured and geared toward long-term development. The "klare Strategie" is intended to bring the club step by step toward Germany's Top 20, the coach said.
First international experience in England
His first stint abroad as a coach took Senft to Barnsley in England's second tier in the 2019/20 season, where he served as Gerhard Struber's assistant. At the English second-division club, he experienced what he described as a dramatic escape from relegation, which left a lasting impression on him regarding the importance of togetherness and mentality within a squad. He stressed that this experience feeds into his work in Karlsruhe.
