Kevin Volland has announced the end of his career after 16 years in professional football and is joining Bezirksliga club FC Thalhofen in Marktoberdorf, following the revocation of TSV 1860 München's license.
Former German national team player Kevin Volland is ending his career as a professional footballer. As reported by the "Allgäuer Zeitung," the 33-year-old will in future play for Bezirksliga side FC Thalhofen in Marktoberdorf alongside his brother Robin. The striker addressed the supporters of his youth club TSV 1860 München via Instagram and explained the end of his active career.
Trigger: License revocation for the Lions
The background to his departure is the license revocation and the resulting forced relegation of the "Lions." "Irgendwann muss man eine Entscheidung treffen, die für einen persönlich nicht leicht ist, irgendwann steht das Karriereende vor der Türe, wie es bei mir jetzt der Fall ist", it says in a personal message. Volland had joined his youth club last summer, after having previously played in the Munich side's youth setup.
