Winston-Salem, June 8, 2026

The German men's national soccer team set up base in Winston-Salem on Sunday, with late call-up Assan Ouédraogo the first to arrive at the team hotel "The Graylyn Estate," while the first open training session under head coach Julian Nagelsmann is scheduled for Monday.

Assan Ouédraogo has surprisingly been called up to the German men's national soccer team squad for the World Cup in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. The 20-year-old replaces the injured Lennart Karl, who was dropped from the squad due to a thigh injury. Nagelsmann personally called the RB Leipzig professional while he was on vacation in Marbella to inform him of the call-up. Ouédraogo then traveled directly to the USA and was on Sunday the first player to check in at the team hotel "The Graylyn Estate" in Winston-Salem.
