Dresden, 16 July 2026

The convicted right-wing extremist Marla Svenja Liebich has been taken into custody in Saxony following her extradition from the Czech Republic and transferred from the Chemnitz women's prison to the Zeithain correctional facility in the district of Meißen, as the Saxon Ministry of Justice announced on Thursday in Dresden.

Transfer still on the same evening

Liebich had been handed over to the German Federal Police at the A17 near Breitenau in Saxony on Tuesday on the basis of a European arrest warrant. The authorities initially took her to the Chemnitz correctional facility, the women's prison closest to her registered place of residence. From there, she was transferred to the Zeithain men's prison still on the evening of the same day, the ministry stated.

Saxony's Justice Minister Constanze Geiert (CDU) expressly welcomed the decision. It was "Gut, dass die JVA schnell Klarheit geschaffen und sich nicht auf Inszenierungen eingelassen hat", Geiert said according to the ministry. The transfer was "auch eine Entscheidung zu Gunsten der Sicherheit der Frauen im Justizvollzug in Chemnitz".
