Linda Noskova wins Wimbledon and dedicates the title to her late mother

At the trophy ceremony, Noskova held the Venus Rosewater Dish in her hands and addressed emotional words to her late mother. „There is one more person I would like to thank. That is my mother. I definitely would not be standing here without her," said the 21-year-old. As she received the trophy, she blew a kiss toward the sky, looked upward, and had tears in her eyes.

Noskova and Muchova know each other well from playing doubles together at the 2024 Olympic Games in France. Before the final, Muchova had begun her remarks with a humorous allusion, calling Noskova „my ex-girlfriend" – a joke Noskova later picked up on: „I'm obviously joking," she said.

Background: Noskova's path to Wimbledon

With the triumph, Noskova is the youngest Wimbledon champion since 2011, when her compatriot Petra Kvitova won the title. Back in 2024, then only 19 years old, she had won her first-ever match at the London grass-court tournament. Since the start of the 2025 season, no player on the WTA Tour has won more matches on grass than she has.

Muchova left Centre Court with a moving farewell message: „This is probably going to be the greatest heartbreak of my life." Despite the defeat, the 29-year-old produced a strong performance and fought her way back into the match after losing the first set.

For Noskova, the victory represents her breakthrough on tennis's biggest stage. The Czech had entered the tournament as a co-favorite and delivered consistently strong performances over two weeks. With the Wimbledon title, she now belongs to the ranks of Grand Slam champions.

For the 21-year-old, the match was a „wild rollercoaster of emotions," as she herself said. But in the end, she stood there with the trophy – and with thoughts of her mother, who could no longer share in this moment.

The Wimbledon success is the biggest moment of Noskova's career so far and a milestone for the next generation of Czech tennis. She had drawn attention to herself at a young age, and has now crowned her development with the most prestigious title in the sport.
