A 50-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault for a violent attack on his 45-year-old wife in Berlin-Pankow this February.
The indictment was announced by the public prosecutor's office on Thursday. According to investigators, the suspect attacked the woman after the couple had separated and he suspected she had a new partner.
The man allegedly felt that his 'family honor' had been violated, the prosecutor's statement said. The concept of family honor is often cited in cases of domestic violence rooted in perceived moral transgressions.
The Alleged Motive
The 45-year-old victim suffered severe injuries, particularly to her head and upper body, during the assault. The extent of her injuries required immediate and intensive medical treatment.
