Gelsenkirchen, 22 July 2026

The Austrian international footballer Maximilian Wöber is moving from English Premier League side Leeds United to German Bundesliga promoted side FC Schalke 04, where he signed a performance-based one-year contract on Wednesday.

The Transfer at a Glance

As the "Royal Blues" announced on Wednesday, the 31-time Austrian international had already completed his medical at the Schalke training camp in the Stubai Valley. "Schalke 04 was very exciting for me from the very first moment. I want to get started quickly now and get to know my new teammates," said the defender.

No transfer fee is due for Schalke because Wöber's contract with Leeds United had already been terminated beforehand. The transfer is therefore not associated with any direct acquisition costs for the club from Gelsenkirchen, which makes the move particularly interesting given Schalke's economic conditions.
