The US company Meta has deactivated an AI-powered image feature for public Instagram profiles after just a few days, following feedback that the program had missed its goal.

The feature was part of the image model "Muse Image," which Meta released in July 2026 directly within WhatsApp and Instagram. It was the first image model from the company's new AI division, Superintelligence Labs. The feature allowed users to use public Instagram profiles as a basis for AI-generated images.

As Meta explained in a statement, it had received feedback that the program had missed its goal. „Man habe Rückmeldungen erhalten, dass das Programm sein Ziel verfehlt habe, hieß es in einer Mitteilung." The company did not provide further details on the reasons for the shutdown. „Details wurden nicht genannt."
