Meta is expanding its largest AI data center to date, Hyperion, in the U.S. state of Louisiana to a computing capacity of five gigawatts and has officially confirmed investments of more than 50 billion dollars for the project.

From a ten-gigawatt to a five-gigawatt expansion

U.S. company Meta is pushing ahead with its largest AI infrastructure project to date, deploying massive financial resources. As Bloomberg reports, citing a person familiar with the plans, Meta now budgets more than 250 billion dollars for the Hyperion site – originally, only around ten billion dollars had been mentioned. Officially confirmed so far is an investment volume of over 50 billion dollars, which is more than five times the originally stated figure.
