A six-month-old baby and its Romanian mother disappeared from a clinic in Duisburg, Germany, before being located in Hungary, police confirmed.

The infant, who had been receiving emergency medical treatment at Helios St. Johannes-Klinik in Duisburg, vanished overnight with a 31-year-old woman believed to be the mother. Authorities launched a large-scale police operation at the hospital around 2:00 a.m., according to a police statement.
"Das Kind verschwand in der Nacht mit einer mutmaßlich 31-jährigen Frau, vermutlich der Mutter, aus der Helios St. Johannes-Klinik wegen einer Erkrankung notärztlich behandelt worden, als eine Frau – mutmaßlich die 31-jährige Mutter – mit ihm in der Nacht ohne Absprache verschwand," the police said. The baby was initially described as being in a serious, life-threatening condition.
