In a shooting at a hotel in Montreal's Côte-des-Neiges neighborhood on Monday at noon, a police officer, a civilian, and the suspected attacker were killed; a police officer was injured but is no longer in life-threatening danger.

Large police deployment on the scene

The shots were fired on Monday around noon (local time) at a hotel in the Côte-des-Neiges neighborhood in Montreal. According to current findings, a witness alerted police by phone. When the first emergency responders arrived at the scene, they were immediately fired upon, according to a police spokesperson.

Security forces responded with a large-scale deployment. Armored vehicles and heavily armed units were dispatched to the district. Police warned of an «armed and dangerous suspect» and urged the public to avoid the area.
