Rescue workers in Nepal have rescued two more people who were buried alive from the rubble more than a week after a devastating flash flood in the Himalayas.
Background: Scale of the disaster
According to the Nepalese emergency services, the rescue took place on the edge of the severely affected area along the Trishuli River, where the masses of water had buried entire settlements the previous week. Search teams had continued to dig there for missing persons, even though the chances of survival after such a long time were considered extremely slim. The identity and exact state of health of the two rescued persons were not initially published in detail.
