Russia's Defense Ministry said it intercepted and destroyed 635 drones overnight into Saturday across more than a dozen regions, marking one of the largest reported drone strikes on Russian territory to date.
According to the ministry's statement via the online service Telegram, the unmanned aircraft were detected and destroyed in more than a dozen regions. The figure of 635 drones in a single night significantly exceeds the daily tallies previously published by the ministry.
Scale and reach
The Saratov region, located roughly 700 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, was also affected, according to Moscow. The Samara region, further east, was also targeted based on available information. This means the attacks reached deep into the Russian hinterland.
