Record number of drones over Russia

The Russian Ministry of Defense announced on Tuesday that 452 unmanned aerial vehicles had been intercepted over 17 Russian regions. This would mark the largest Ukrainian drone attack on Moscow in terms of numbers over the past two years.

The mayor of the Russian capital, Sergei Sobyanin, stated via the messaging service Telegram that more than 430 drones had flown toward Moscow during the night. Thirty-six drones on direct approach to the city area had been shot down or neutralized, he wrote on Telegram. He reported no damage, but the capital's airports were temporarily closed.

However, it is unclear which drones were included in Sobyanin's statistics. The figures cannot be independently verified. Other Russian authorities also published numbers on Tuesday that in some cases differed from Sobyanin's statements.
