Vienna, August 15, 2026
A mother and her daughter, who had been reported missing in Vienna at the beginning of August, have reappeared in Argentina after about a week, as the Vienna Police announced.
According to the Vienna State Police Directorate, the trigger for the search had been the fact that the family does not use electronic devices during Shabbat. Relatives had therefore only become suspicious on Sunday morning (August 9) when their text messages to the mother and daughter were not delivered. They subsequently alerted the police.
Shabbat Pause Delayed the Alerting of the Police
From Vienna, according to initially unconfirmed information, the family traveled via stopovers, including Prague, toward Argentina. The Vienna Police worked together with international agencies, according to its own statements, to reconstruct the travel route. The search focused on the greater Buenos Aires area following leads from the family's circle.
