Munich, 01 July 2026
The Munich Administrative Court will hear the lawsuits brought by three men against the border controls at the German-Austrian border, in place since September 2024, on Thursday and intends to announce its ruling on the same day.
The plaintiffs include the Nigerian Abdulhamid A., who says he feels targeted during the controls primarily because of his skin color and accuses the authorities of racial profiling, as well as the Innsbruck-based lawyer Hubert Niedermayr, who has been checked multiple times in the Rosenheim area. A man living in Munich and working in Innsbruck is also suing over an identity check in a train in which, according to the court, he was stopped by the federal police in June of last year and subjected to a pat-down of his bag after refusing to show his ID.
