Three years after Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, a new report alleges that Elon Musk personally restricted Starlink internet service to Ukrainian troops in autumn 2023, citing fears of a third world war.
The allegation, first reported in autumn 2023 and now corroborated by three independent sources, describes a direct intervention by Musk into the connectivity that Ukrainian forces rely on for battlefield communications and drone operations. According to the account, Musk ordered Starlink service to be throttled for Ukrainian military units because he feared that continued availability of the terminals could provoke a wider escalation involving nuclear powers.
