NASA chief Jared Isaacman has promised the US men's national football team a football on the moon if the team wins the World Cup.

At a press conference on Tuesday (local time), the head of the US space agency NASA, Jared Isaacman, announced that NASA would bring a football to the moon if the USA team wins the title at the ongoing World Cup. Isaacman described the planned action as a "small motivational boost" for the US team. In doing so, he linked a sporting task with space travel and at the same time created an unusual public promise.

Isaacman's appeal to Team USA

Referring to the USA women's team, which has already won four World Cup titles, Isaacman pointed to the country's sporting record. Addressing the men's team directly with a view to the upcoming knockout round, he called out: „Da gibt es also ein bisschen Motivation für die USA. Das ist die Herausforderung - also Team USA, auf geht's!". He then added: „Also, Team USA: Erledigt Euren Teil" and „Wir werden den Fußball dorthin bekommen".
