A therapy approach against pancreatic cancer presented in two renowned scientific journals has in clinical studies significantly extended survival time in advanced disease and also triggered a measurable immune response in high-risk individuals.
The active substance Daraxonrasib targets the KRAS signaling pathway, which is permanently activated in more than 90 percent of pancreatic carcinomas. As stated in the research report, "in the context of the malignant disease, a genetic 'switch' is permanently set to 'on,' driving cell growth." By inhibiting this signal, a Phase III study with 500 patients with metastatic pancreatic cancer nearly doubled the median overall survival from 6.7 months under standard chemotherapy to 13.2 months under Daraxonrasib. The results were published in the "New England Journal of Medicine."
