German pop singer Nina Chuba has drawn criticism after calling the Stuttgart concert audience the "lamest crowd in Germany" in a podcast following her performance at the Kessel Festival.

The remarks were made in a podcast hosted by Chuba with her drummer Momme Hitzemann, after she played the Stuttgart festival at the end of June. Tens of thousands of visitors attended the concert despite record heat, according to the festival organizer.

In comments first reported by the Stuttgarter Zeitung and later picked up by other outlets, Chuba said: "Stuttgart ist die lameste Crowd in Deutschland". She then speculated about possible reasons, joking that fans might not be getting enough oxygen. "Vielleicht kriegt ihr nicht genug Sauerstoff wegen dem Kessel?", she asked, referring to Stuttgart's location in a basin. She also suggested that "Maultaschen liegen euch quer im Magen?" and wondered whether it could be "einfach so eine süddeutsche Trägheit".
